This tour is essentially divided in 3 main parts: the first one is dedicated to the mosaics, the second leg is for Dante Alighieri and the area pledged to him, then a food moment to seal the amazing time we spent together.

In order to admire all the stunning mosaics of Ravenna you will visit the following sites: Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Arian Baptistry, Archiepiscopal Chapel, Basilica of Sant'Apollinare, Mausoleum of Theodoric, Basilica of San Vitale.

You will enter the so called “silent area”: here the famous Italian poet Dante Alighieri lived, after his death the area has been dedicated to his memory and cult. His tomb is a simple neo-classical building near St.Francis cloisters and church in which in 1321 Dante’s funerals took place.

Art and history are not the only attractions in Ravenna, the town is also a foodie paradise, we couldn’t arrange the ideal tour without including the tasting of a local specialty such as the piadina

This type of bread is “made with wheat flour soaked with water and seasoned with salt. It can also be mixed with milk and seasoned with some pork fat”, currently the recipe hasn’t changed much over the centuries.
