Starting it in the late afternoon allow us to capture a special moment of the city, when locals meet up to have a chat and a glass of wine, when the sun exalts the yellow coloration of the buildings, when the mood change from touristy to pleasantly relaxed, when we can slow down our pace and calmly enjoy the beauty of this quiet and charming town.

Let’s start our cultural visit from the central Garibaldi square, situated where there was once an ancient Roman Forum, here reside the main public offices and buildings: the Governor's Palace, the Town Hall and the palace of the Captain of the People built in 1200; here we can observe a unique and intricate astronomical clock.

The most ancient buildings in Parma are colored in yellow, legend tells that the fair hair color of the noblewoman Isabella of Bourbon, admired during her wedding parade, may have inspired the townspeople and successively the French architect Petitot in the choice of color when painting the façades of the buildings in Parma, at sunset the color assumes such vibrant shades that the city seems to bathe in a permanent golden glow.
